On 28 November 2024, Pharma Value collaborated with AstraZeneca to organise an in-house training day of great innovative value. An event that involved 50 professionals from the areas of Market Access, Patient Advocacy and Medical Management, all united in a training course that promoted collaboration and synergy between the different company functions.
Simulating reality to prepare for the future
The training focused on a key topic: the simulation of a PICO Survey within the Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA). The activity was based on a real-life case study, i.e. a drug scheduled for launch in 2025. To make the experience even more immersive, participants worked by simulating the perspectives of seven EU Member States, each chosen to represent different regulatory and clinical scenarios.
Tailor-made programme with practical and interactive training
Behind the success of this workshop was meticulous preparation work.
The Pharma Value team developed customised training material, combining real and hypothetical data to create highly realistic simulations. Through the use of role-playing, participants were able to directly address the complexities of HTA regulation, working on key topics such as:
- The construction of PICOs;
- Direct and indirect comparisons;
- The impacts of the JCA on the Italian context.
The activity was led by a team of excellence composed of Valeria Viola and Federico Tartarelli from Pharma Value, together with a pool of external experts from the academic world: Carlotta Galeone (methodologist and biostatistician), Aureliano Stingi (medical expert) and Andrea Marcellusi (pharmaco-economist).
A change of mindset to face new challenges
This experience underlined the importance of:
- Aligning with the European guidelines, which are essential for dealing with the HTA regulation;
- Exploiting Real-World Data for more informed and evidence-based decisions;
- Fostering collaboration between global teams and local affiliates for a harmonised strategy.
Results and thanks
The real added value of this training was the enthusiasm of the participants.
The AstraZeneca team was curious, proactive and involved, turning each exercise into an opportunity for growth and discussion.
Special thanks go to AstraZeneca for their trust and passion. "Together we are innovating the way we work, building skills that look beyond the present, towards the future of the pharmaceutical sector"These are the words of Valeria Viola about the fruitful collaboration with this important pharmaceutical company.
