The National Commission for Updating the Essential Levels of Care (LEA) was renewed by Ministerial Decree of 18/03/2024.

The President of the Commission is the Minister of Health.

At the President's request, representatives of the Consiglio Superiore di Sanità (Higher Health Council), scientific societies and medical federations may also attend the Commission's meetings, in addition to the full members and alternates. In addition, external experts with expertise in the specific subject matter will be invited to contribute their technical and scientific know-how.

The Commission's term of office is three years from the date of installation.

La previous Commission had taken office on l 28/07/2020 and had been constituted by the Ministerial Decree of 5/5/2020.
