ICMRA, the international coalition of health regulators from every region of the world, met today. It includes the regulatory agencies of Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Denmark, Israel, Poland, Russia and Spain. The WHO is present as an observer.
The work ended with a statement addressed to healthcare professionals to help them answer the questions they are sure to receive on the evaluation, approval and monitoring of safe, effective and high quality COVID-19 vaccines.
It is a joint statement by all the regulatory agencies that make up ICMRA and is a step towards creating a common language and taking decisive action to exit the pandemic together, in this case by increasing public confidence in vaccines against COVID-19
