From March onwards, I found it difficult to plan and imagine the future.
I did everything I could to stay in control and to remain steadfast, despite the uncertainties, I couldn't imagine what would be next, I didn't understand where it was going.
Not that I know it now. As I often say, I don't have a glass ball.
After the panic, anxiety and obsessiveness comes the realisation that there may be an opportunity or that we have to practise thinking something different.
What I realised in 2020 is that it is difficult to imagine what you do not know, it is difficult to make a training or business plan if you do not know what you are missing, it is difficult to ask the right questions, i.e. questions that do not necessarily confirm what we already think and that do not make us go down the same, now unsuccessful, roads. The unknown is also scary, even when we don't like the known, changing and making decisions are acts of courage.
It takes extra effort and imagination to set aside our way of thinking about reality and the future contaminated by what we are used to seeing around us to try to imagine a reality we would prefer. It takes creative effort to visualise the countless futures, positive or negative, that are possible.
I feel like in José Saramago's novel, Blindness, I feel like I am blind in a world of blind people, an epidemic of blindness that makes anyone who contracts the disease see everything white.
It is for this reason that I thought I would like to have and give away a tool that would help to see, to have a vision, to imagine something different, that would push out of the already thought, out of the comfort zone, out of things already said.
It is an agenda, a notebook, a place for thoughts, even small ones, and creativity. It may seem like a funny, cute object, it is a crazy object to be a gift with a corporate identity.
But it is the fools who are given permission to speak the truth by offending, instilling doubt and reflection so that the white sheet falls from their eyes.
This 2021 notebook is meant to be a way to take care of what we think because our thoughts will make us act accordingly. Today and tomorrow. And I think we all need that.
